Speeding Excuses

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Many people conduct internet searches for speeding excuses, but few find any legitimate answers.  There are times when a person can successfully use an excuse to get out of a traffic ticket.  For example, if a new stopped sign is installed at an intersection that did not previously have a stop sign.  Sometimes the judge will throw this type of case out of court for the first few months after the stop sign has been installed.  You can also attempt o explain that the road markings and/or signs were obstructed.  This has also been found to be effective.  TicketTutor.com has been designed to help people fight a variety of traffic tickets.  Ticket Tutor gives you all the questions that should be used to fight traffic tickets in traffic court.

Former Los Angeles Laker, Isaiah Rider, was allegedly arrested in the “Skidrow” district of downtown Los Angeles. The area is known for transients, parolees, and drugs addicts. Apparently Isaiah Rider failed to stop for a stop sign, which caught the attention of nearby police officers, who later determined that Rider’s vehicle, a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo, was stolen. Why Use Online Traffic Schools

Saturday, February 9th, 2008

Online traffic schools have become increasingly popular for people that need to attend traffic school. One must admit that sitting in a stinky classroom with a bunch of weirdos for a weekend is not that enticing, when you consider you could just as easily take a traffic school course wearing pajamas in the comfort of your own home. Many traffic courts have accepted the legitimacy of online traffic schools. Traffic school is a popular choice for people that just want to keep from getting points on their driving record. Sometimes traffic school is not available because the violator does not qualify for traffic school. If you have found yourself in this situation, which is usually the case when you have received several traffic tickets in a short amount of time, you should seriously consider fighting your traffic ticket.

First time traffic violators should consider taking traffic school, which is usually easier than fighting a ticket. We recommend www.gototrafficschool.com for the best online traffic school.

Tips, Tricks, and Techniques to Avoid a Speeding Ticket

Thursday, January 24th, 2008

Several days ago I was traveling down the road and I saw an oncoming vehicle flash their high-beam headlights at me. It was slightly odd that a person would flash their headlights at me during daylight hours. I remembered that many years earlier my older sister taught me that sometimes people flash their headlights at you as a signal that a cop is up the road. I instantly slowed to the posted speed limit and sure enough I saw a California Highway Patrol on the side of the road shooting radar. I chuckled as I drove by him, thankful for the considerate oncoming vehicle that saved me from getting an expensive speeding ticket.

Motorcycle riders also use a signal to indicate the presence of a police officer. They tap the top of their motorcycle helmet to signal oncoming traffic of the police presence ahead. Paying attention to oncoming traffic can easily save you the high price of hefty speeding ticket fines. The third signal that drivers may use is simply turning their headlights on and off. If you see these signals, it is recommended that you take a moment to slow down and look for police up ahead. Recognizing these simple tips can keep you from certain insurance hikes and having to appear in court to fight a traffic ticket. So keep your eyes open and now that you know these signals, help oncoming traffic when you are aware that the police a in the area. How Traffic Court Works When You Fight a Ticket

Saturday, January 5th, 2008

The average person has a poor understanding of how traffic court works. A veteran of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, who requested her name remain anonymous, explained how the court process works for those who plan to fight a ticket. Once you have received your copy of the traffic ticket, you must enter a plea. This can be done through the mail or in person at the court house. If you plead guilty, you will just pay your fine and you will be done. If you elect to try and beat a ticket, then you will plead not guilty and you will have to post bail and appear in court to have your case heard. If you eventually beat your ticket, you will get your bail amount refunded.

Once you appear for your day in court, your case will be called and the show begins. The officer will first provide testimony regarding the facts of the case and the officer will testify to their observations. When the officer is done, you will be asked if you have any questions for the officer. Most people do not have a clue what to ask the officer, but don’t fear a company called Ticket Tutor has developed a way to assist you and ensure you ask the officer all of the right questions to fight your ticket. After you have asked the officer your questions, you give your testimony regarding the events that led to your citation.

After you have given your testimony, the judge will make a ruling on the case. Many times, you can request that your fines be reduced as well as going to traffic school. Ticket Tutor also teaches how this should be done. It is important to understand that some smaller cities use city attorneys and they facilitate the trial. This does not really change how the trail proceeds, but in some cases you may have a third party involved in the traffic court trial.

Fighting a ticket can be a scary event. If you plan to fight a ticket, you must do some homework and organize your thoughts. Ticket Tutor’s service actually gives you questions to ask in court. If you have prepared and understand how the court process works, you will be much more successful when you fight your ticket.

This article is not intended to be legal advice or replace a competent attorney, but it is intended to be a resource that can be used to educate the average person about traffic court.

Most Expensive States for Speeding Tickets

Monday, December 24th, 2007

A recent article by Forbes.com was published on Yahoo Finance that identified the most expensive states and their fines for speeding tickets. The article seemed to validate the importance of fighting a speeding ticket when speeding fines can easily top $1,000. Many states have an initial traffic fine of $300, but then the court adds an additional penalty that can easily exceed $1,000. If you want to fight a speeding ticket that may result in the huge penalties that are mentioned in the Forbes article, then you should consider using Ticket Tutor to fight a ticket. Ticket Tutor’s CEO indicated that their company, Ticket Tutor, LLC., has experienced a significant increase in business from Virginia and several of the other states that Forbes identified. The CEO added, “It appears that legislators have created fines that are so expensive that people will pay them, but the fines do not justify hiring an attorney for $4,000 to try and beat a ticket without any promise or guarantee winning the ticket. People are only left to use their own ideas or those provided by Ticket Tutor’s law enforcement experts.” Here is the breakdown for the most expensive states for first time speeding tickets.

Virginia = $1,350

Georgia = $1,000

North Carolina = $1,000

New Hampshire = $1,000

Illinois = $1,000

Nevada = $1,000

Utah = $750

Oregon = $600

Do I Beat a Ticket if the Officer Does Not Appear in Court?

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Generally speaking, you will beat a traffic ticket if the officer does not appear in court for your case. Many people think if they fight a traffic ticket they will win because the officer will not show up. Here are some facts, the officer gets a subpoena that requires them to appear in court. The officer is usually on-duty and they are frequently getting paid overtime to appear in court, so why would they miss court? Sometimes, the officer may be on vacation, but they can request that the court date be changed until they get back after their vacation. The officer could also miss court because they are sick, which is statistically unlikely. The most likely reason for an officer to miss a court date is that they have a subpoena to appear in court on a criminal case. There is a pecking order on how court hearings are prioritized by law enforcement agencies. It is as follows; Top priority is juvenile criminal cases. Second, is adult felony criminal cases. Third, Adult misdemeanor cases and last, is traffic court. It is recommended that you DO NOT bank on the officer not appearing because they usually work with the courts to accommodate the need to be in several places at one time.

Should I Buy a Radar Detector

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

The answer is a resounding, Yes! Radar detectors are excellent at spotting the police before the police spot you. Officers can use a variety of techniques to surprise people that have radar detectors, but for the most part the radar detector will let you know the police are present before you ever see the police. That means if you can’t see them, they probably can’t see you. Therefore, no speeding ticket for you.

A radar detector simply detects the radio signals that are emitted from the radar gun. Newer technology allows officers to use laser as well. Let’s face it, each time any device is used it emits some type of signal that can be detected. Our law enforcement experts recommend that you buy a high quality detector that detects both radar and laser. Most modern units detect both radar and laser and you can spend from as little as $75 to as much as $400. TicketTutor.com recommends that you spend around $150 to ensure you purchase a dependable detector. Even a $400 detector will pay for itself very quickly when you consider that speeding tickets in California, New York, Florida and other major cities can easily exceed $400. That makes a radar detector very cost effective. The savings can even be higher if you factor in the cost of increased insurance rates as a result of getting a speeding ticket and the lost wages you will have due to fighting a speeding ticket and having to appear in court.

You must ensure it is legal to use such a device in your home state or country. It is also generally illegal to use a radar detector in any commercial vehicle. It is recommend that you contact your municipal police department, sheriff’s department, state trooper or highway patrol. They should be able to explain the law as it applies in your city and state.

How to Avoid a Radar Speeding Ticket

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Many people speed down highways looking for the Highway Patrol in hopes of not getting a speeding ticket. Here are a few tips to avoid being caught by radar and avoid having to fight a ticket in court. Radar works by sending out a signal that strikes a vehicle and the signal returns to the radar gun. The radar gun calculates how fast a vehicle is traveling by measuring how many feet the vehicle has traveled in a given number of seconds. For example: If a vehicle traveled 275 feet in 3-seconds the radar gun would indicate the vehicle’s speed is 62.5 MPH. (The math equation is the number of feet traveled, divided by the number of seconds, times .681818182 = ________ Speed in MPH).

Some methods to avoid a speeding ticket by radar:

1. On the freeway, drive in the middle lanes because you are less likely to have the radar beam focused on your vehicle.

2. Drive near larger vehicles. Large vehicles (Moving truck, 18-wheeler, SUV’s, Etc.) have a greater surface area and return more of the radar beam to the radar gun, so your vehicle is less likely to be perceived as the speeding vehicle. You must be very careful not to drive in “blind spots.”

3. Follow cars, don’t be the leader of the pack. The leader of the pack is the first vehicle to return a radar signal to the awaiting officer. It is much better to be lost in the middle. It is much more difficult to determine the speed of a vehicle that is in the middle of the pack. Also, there is approximately 3-seconds of lag time while the radar gun calculates a reading. So if you follow a vehicle within 3-second spacing, the radar will not even detect your vehicle. Remember, always follow at a safe distance because following too close is also illegal. You can test this technique on the radar units that are posted or parked on the side of the road to remind you of your speed.

4. It is also wise to purchase a quality radar detector. The price of radar detectors varies from between $50-$400. Obviously the more expensive radar detectors are generally higher quality. You can purchase an adequate detector for around $125-$150. You might not want to trust on a cheaper unit. It is important to determine if your state allows the use of a radar detector.
